PCMC SAFETY MEASURES DURING PANDEMIC

We want to reassure the public that stringent precautionary measures are and have been in place since the start of the pandemic in 2020 to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and doctors such as:

  • Stringent entrance SOP at PCMC with temperature screening, limited entry/exit points in the hospital and mandatory health declaration.
  • No visitor policy in the wards, except for legal guardian or designated caretaker who is subject to a COVID-19 RT-PCR test prior to entry.
  • Mandatory Covid-19 tests for admissions and surgical cases.
  • 2-hourly cleaning and disinfection through-out the hospital.
  • Practice of good hygiene (including hand hygiene) by all staff, doctors and visitors.
  • Stringent monitoring of all patients, staff and doctors for ILI (Influenza like illness) and SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) symptoms.
  • Frontliners and healthcare providers are equipped with the appropriate PPE and are Covid-19 vaccinated (completed in phases);
  • Last but not least, Continuous update and following of the Guidelines from our Ministry of Health.

Covid patients are separated and isolated from the non-covid patients via a SPECIFIC COVID-19 PATHWAY, starting from the Isolation area of the Emergency Department and all the way to the dedicated Covid-19 ward. The pathway that has been used will then be closed for terminal cleaning.

Any visitor who shows flu-like symptoms will immediately be transferred to the Emergency Department for further assessment. Covid or suspected Covid cases are not treated in general outpatient areas.

Patients will be managed base on MOH guidelines to ensure the safety of patients, and all occupants in the hospital are maintained at all times.

A. SAFETY
  • How do PCMC ensure the safety of non-COVID patients in PCMC?

  • Am I at risk of contacting COVID-19 virus while seeking medical assistance in PCMC?
It is in the best interest of the hospital to take all necessary precautionary measures to mitigate the risk such as screening all patients before admission, segregation of patients base on non-covid & COVID-19 patients, visitors and companion control, strict enforcement on wearing of masks and physical distancing in the hospital compound.
B. COVID ADMISSION
  • Do PCMC accept COVID-19 patients?
As per MOH Guidelines, we encourage patients who are in Category 1 & 2 to be under home quarantine whilst severe conditions in Category 3-5 are recommended to be admitted to the hospital where PCMC can assist. However, if the home environment is not conducive for home quarantine for Category 1 & 2, you have the option to be admitted to a hospital ONLY based on doctor’s recommendation. So for PCMC, you can call our Emergency Department directly at 03- 2160 0999 for our medical team to assist you accordingly.
  • Where do I go to for any inquiry if I am a positive covid patient and want to be admitted in PCMC?
We will follow MOH's guidelines on management of Covid patients.If you have completed your Covid-19 Screening Test at PCMC and is tested positive, our Covid Care Team will be in contact with you for the next step to be taken. Should you wish to be in contact with our Covid Care Team, feel free to drop us an email at [email protected]. If you have tested positive at another hospital or Lab, then that hospital, or PKD will be in contact with you. You will also need to register MySejahtera on your Covid-19 Positive status. However, should you wish to be admitted at PCMC, kindly contact our Emergency Department at 03-2160 0999 for further arrangement.
  • I am a Category 2 to Category 3 individual with bad symptoms, can I be admitted in PCMC?
Yes you can be admitted depending on the doctor’s assessment & recommendation. To proceed with this, please contact our Emergency Department at 03-2160 0999 for further arrangement.
  • Can I transfer a COVID-19 patient from a government facility to your hospital?
Yes, with doctor’s recommendation. Please contact PCMC’s Emergency Department at 03 2160 0999 and will be advised accordingly.
  • Where is the drop off point for Covid patients?
Anyone who is known to be Covid positive should be dropped off directly at our Emergency Department. If you have similar symptoms but have not tested for COVID-19, you are advised to proceed to Emergency Department directly for further assessment. If you are tested positive, our doctors will advise you on the next step.
  • Can I choose to be quarantined at PCMC?
We do not provide quarantine services for non-covid positive patients. We will keep our facility for patients who require medical attention.
C. COVID VACCINATION
  • Is the Covid19 vaccine already available in PCMC?
Yes. We are now offering CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccine at PCMC for BOTH Adults & Adolescence from the age of 12-17 years old at the price of RM 342 for two doses.
