Overview

We are one of the few eye centres in Malaysia equipped with state-of-the-art Carl Zeiss VisuMax Femtosecond Laser and MEL 80 Excimer Laser. These cutting-edge devices allow us to deliver exceptional results to our patients.

LASIK surgery, or Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, is a popular refractive surgery procedure aimed at correcting common vision problems such as near-sightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK surgery is a safe and effective procedure that has helped millions of people worldwide achieve clearer vision without requiring glasses or contact lenses.

One of the key advantages of LASIK surgery is its rapid recovery time. Most patients experience improved vision within hours of the procedure and can resume their normal activities within a few days. LASIK also provides long-lasting results, with many patients achieving stable vision correction that can last for many years.

Experience Personalised Vision Correction with Bladeless LASIK at Prince Court Medical Centre

Your vision is unique, and when it comes to laser eye surgery, you deserve the best. At Prince Court Medical Centre, we offer bladeless LASIK, a cutting-edge procedure that combines advanced technology and the expertise of our LASIK surgeons to deliver personalised vision correction. Unlike traditional LASIK, bladeless LASIK uses a gentle laser to create the corneal flap, eliminating the need for blades. This innovative approach allows our LASIK surgeons to tailor the corneal flap precisely to each patient's individual needs, ensuring optimal outcomes and enhanced visual results.

Cutting-edge Technology and Exceptional Care

At The Prince Court Eye & LASIK Centre, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of eye care technology. We are one of the few eye centres in Malaysia equipped with state-of-the-art Carl Zeiss VisuMax Femtosecond Laser and MEL 80 Excimer Laser. These cutting-edge devices allow us to deliver exceptional results to our patients.

VisuMax Femtosecond Laser

The VisuMax Femtosecond Laser, in particular, provides a range of advantages that set it apart. With its advanced technology, we can achieve precise flap creation while minimising the suction required. This not only enhances patient comfort but also promotes quicker healing and recovery. Additionally, the laser's high repetition low energy feature ensures a safe and efficient procedure, prioritising the well-being of our patients at every step.

Before undergoing LASIK surgery, a thorough evaluation is conducted to determine your candidacy and to tailor the procedure to your individual needs. Our dedicated team of eye care professionals will guide you through the entire process, addressing any concerns and providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care. In addition to bladeless LASIK, our Eye & LASIK Centre offers a range of other vision correction procedures, including PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), implantable contact lenses, and refractive lens exchange. Our ophthalmologists will assess your specific vision needs and recommend the most suitable procedure to help you achieve clear and improved vision.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our track record of successful surgeries and the positive feedback we receive from our patients. We take great pride in delivering exceptional outcomes and ensuring patient satisfaction. When you choose Prince Court Eye & LASIK Centre, you can trust that you are in the hands of experienced professionals utilising state-of-the-art technology to provide the best possible eye care experience.

Is LASIK Surgery Right for Me?

It is important to note that LASIK may not be suitable for everyone. LASIK Surgery is right for you if you meet the criteria below:

  • Age
    • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • General health
    • You must be in good general health, and should not have certain health problems, including uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune or collagen vascular disease, or take any medication or have any condition that compromises the immune response.
  • Eye health
    • You should be free of eye diseases including keratoconus, glaucoma, cataracts, corneal disease and certain retinal and optic nerve diseases. You should not have certain eye conditions including herpes simplex and herpes zoster.
  • Eye problems
    • You should inform our ophthalmologist of certain existing eye problems including amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (muscle imbalance), or any recurrent, residual or active eye conditions that may influence healing. Other conditions that should be discussed with the doctor include keloid scarring with previous surgical healing, back problems and claustrophobia.
    • Please also ensure our ophthalmologist is aware of any mental health conditions, as these may also affect your LASIK surgery or recovery.
  • Eye injury
    • You should not have any eye infections or injuries.
  • Nursing/pregnancy
    • You should not be nursing or pregnant when undergoing the LASIK procedure. Hormones may affect the stability of your prescription, so pregnant or nursing women are not eligible to pursue LASIK surgery until three menstrual cycles after nursing have been discontinued.
  • Dry eye condition
    • You should not continuously suffer from dry eyes.
  • Stable vision
    • Your vision must be stable for at least one year before the procedure date.
  • Contact Lens
    • Before your LASIK surgery consultation and LASIK procedure, you must not wear contact lenses for a certain length of time. The precise length will be determined by your doctor on an individual basis. This ensures corneal stability and accurate assessment of your prescription before the LASIK surgery procedure.
  • Corneal thickness
    • Corneal thickness plays an important role in determining proper candidacy for LASIK. Due to the nature of the procedure, you must have a minimum corneal thickness of approximately 0.5 mm.

Understanding the LASIK Procedure: How It Works and What to Expect

Performed by highly skilled ophthalmologists who specialize in eye surgery, LASIK involves several key steps:

  • Application of Anaesthetic Eye Drops
    • Before the procedure begins, anaesthetic eye drops are applied to ensure your comfort throughout the surgery.

  • Creation of a Protective Flap
    • The LASIK surgeon creates a thin, protective flap on the surface of the cornea. This flap allows access to the inner corneal tissue, which will be reshaped during the procedure.

  • Reshaping of the Corneal Tissue
    • Using a computer-controlled laser, precise pulses of cool laser light are delivered to the inner layers of the cornea. This reshapes the corneal tissue to correct your vision prescription. An eye-tracking device ensures accuracy by monitoring your eye movements during this step.

  • Repositioning and Alignment of the Flap
    • Once the corneal tissue has been reshaped, the LASIK surgeon gently repositions and aligns the protective flap to its original position. This step is crucial for proper healing and stability.

  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Protective shields are placed over your eyes to prevent accidental rubbing and to aid in the natural healing process. After the LASIK surgery, it is common to experience moderate discomfort and irritation for a few hours.
    • It is important to note that while LASIK has a high success rate, individual results may vary. Some patients may experience temporary side effects such as dry eyes, glare, or halos, but these usually subside over time. It is essential to follow your surgeon's instructions for post-operative care and attend follow-up appointments to monitor your progress.
