Prince Court Wins Gold at HMA Awards 2023
Kuala Lumpur, 7 September 2023 – Prince Court Medical Centre’s corporate social responsibility campaign, “Bridging Hope, Transforming Lives: Closing the Cancer Care Divide” received the Gold Award for Best in Community Involvement at the Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Awards 2023 on Wednesday.
Due to the high number of cancer patients in public hospitals, Prince Court embarked on a collaboration with a government hospital in Kuala Lumpur to provide free radiotherapy sessions to underserved communities.
The partnership between the private and public hospitals produced significant results as it enhanced accessibility, reduced waiting times, and provided patients with life-saving cancer treatments.
Since the programme’s inception in March 2023, Prince Court has provided over 820 free radiotherapy sessions for public healthcare patients, and are on track to delivering cancer treatment worth over RM 1 million this year.
Prince Court Chief Executive Officer Cindy Choe, who accepted the award from HMA Awards Chairman Dato’ Dr. Jacob Thomas, said: “This award highlights the power of collaboration between a private and public hospital in providing equitable access to cancer care especially to underserved communities.
“It is my hope that our success story will encourage more people to embark on similar journeys, working together to transform cancer care and ensure that no one is left behind in receiving life-saving treatments.”
Through this collaboration, selected patients from the public hospital received access to Prince Court’s cutting-edge cancer treatment technology including the Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerator (LINAC), reinforcing their commitment to delivering exceptional medical care.
Launched in 2002, the HMA Awards celebrate excellence in Asia’s hospital management. This award highlights Prince Court’s dedication in alleviating the burdens of cancer care within underserved communities in Malaysia, and the unity of public-private partnerships in fighting cancer.
